Oscar: List of Honorary Award Winners

A note on year notation: The Academy Awards are presented in March for the artistic achievements of the previous year. It is for this reason that all dates refer to the year in which the movie was released, not the year in which the award was presented. Explanations Of Honorary Awards: Irving G. Thalberg Award: Established in 1937, the Thalberg is the only award that is not an Oscar, it's actually a minature bronze bust of Thalberg himself. It is given to a creative producer who has been responsible for a consistently high quality of motion picture production. Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award: Established in 1957, the Hersholt is given to an individual in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry. Outstanding Juvenile Performance: Was given sporadically from 1934-1960. The award was a miniature Oscar. Honorary Oscar: Generally given for exceptional distinction in the making of motion pictures or for outstanding service to the Academy.
